A scientist named Roy Baumeister did a study where he had students fast for a time before they arrived at his lab. When they arrived, the entire lab smelled like freshly baked cookies. In front of them were a bowl of cookies and a bowl of radishes. One group was allowed to eat the cookies while the other one was only allowed to eat from the bowl of radishes.They were left alone in the room for awhile … and while none of the radish group cheated they stared longingly at the cookies. Some even touched and smelled them.

I’m sitting poolside here in Phoenix, Arizona. It’s been four days of sunshine and blue skies and I now understand why Canadians flock to this state. It’s gorgeous, the people are friendly, and the weather is awesome.
Before you get excited and ask me about real estate in Arizona let me say that we’re not shopping for real estate while we’re here. I’m going to hit the mall shortly in search of a new pair of jeans because I’ve worn the back end out of two pairs in the last six months (and no, Wade my butt is not growing!!), but that’s the only shopping we’re doing here. Dave’s in a year long business coaching and masterminding program, and this quarter’s meeting was set in the sun. Who was I to pass up the opportunity to tag along?

I’m sure you’ve heard me say that being free from our jobs makes every day a holiday.
That doesn’t mean we don’t work – it just means that every day is ours to do with as we please. It’s an incredible feeling! No more juggling our vacation days trying to make it work so we can take time off together. No more anxious feelings hoping my boss will let me leave early to go mountain biking before the sun is gone for the day. And, best of all, afternoon naps whenever I want, in my own bed!
