Happy Monday to you all!! We’re off to Nanaimo today to check out the home we just bought. It’s the second deal we’ve done through the yellow letter marketing campaign we launched in late 2009 (for a great post about what the yellow letter campaign is check out an article from Shae Bynes on Bigger Pockets). We just closed on this lovely home on Friday and took possession yesterday. Today we’re going to meet with the painters, check out what needs cleaning, and get it ready to show to prospective tenants.

Starting back in October of 2009 we selected a couple of areas within the city of Nanaimo that we liked, purchased a mailing list based on the postal codes of those areas and began mailing out little yellow letters. They are handwritten, simple and basically say:

We’ve taken a break from our marketing activities for the rest of the year. We didn’t want our lovely little yellow letters to compete with holiday greeting cards but we’ll resume with our last 1500 letters in early January (that’s right Nanaimo … we’re sending you more letters!) and begin a multi-media marketing campaign complete with online ads, print ads and signage around the city.
